What is “Ingrain”? Well, its the new name of the Selkirk College Fine Woodworking annual year end show. With a new name comes an exciting new venue. Through the creative support of Gallery 378 and the Craft Connection, “Ingrain” fills their combined spaces with an exhibition of fine wood furniture created by this year’s class of student woodworkers. Gallery 378 and the Craft Connection are located together at 378 Baker St. in Nelson. The show opens at 9:30 am Friday, May 22 rd, with a public reception from 7-9 pm Friday evening and continues on Saturday from 9:30 am to 6 pm and Sunday from 12 noon until 4 pm.

The Nelson Early Childhood Advisory Council with funding from Success By 6 is planning Kid Walk, a full day of fun and activities for families with young children. Kid Walk Coordinator Amy Kelly explains. “Our vision is to create a family fun event that will showcase the different services and offerings available to families and children in Nelson. This will be a unique opportunity to get children and parents involved in fun, interactive activities as well as exciting and informational demonstrations and workshops.”

"Reclaiming the Heart" : is a one day workshop for women designed to help them identify their true passions and get reacquainted with their Intuition and Higher Self. Both Joanne and Eve raise awareness about limiting beliefs that prevent us from being happy. Eve combines the art of humor with certainty to create a sense of freedom. Joanne points the way to freedom by introducing us to our passions. Once our negative beliefs have been identified, they are set free and replaced by positive beliefs that raise our self confidence and help us step fully into our passions. Be prepared to be amazed. Spring is the air! The Nelson Waldorf School Kinderhouse is presenting its annual May Fest. This is a beautiful celebration honouring families with young children (siblings welcome!). From 10:00 – 12:30 you and your children may enjoy strawberry shortcake, tea, and other delicious snacks, natural craft making, and the ‘Sun Egg’ a delightful puppet show performed by the Kinderhouse teachers. As well, children may make beautiful flower garlands to wear for the May Pole dance which takes place in the upper field from 12:30 – 1:00.

Be sure to take part in one of the ongoing guided school tours to learn more about our local Waldorf school! The tours will be led by Waldorf teachers and will ongoing throughout the event.

The Canadian Cancer Society Relay For Life is more than just a fundraiser. It is an opportunity to get together with family and friends and celebrate cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost to cancer, and fight back in the hope of finding a cure for this terrible disease.

Relay is fun, fulfilling, and your participation gives strength to our mission to eradicate cancer. Walk with us in this inspirational 12-hour event as we come together and fight to make cancer history.



Celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer. Cancer survivors join together at Relay For Life to walk the Survivors' Victory Lap - the first lap of the event. Their strength and courage gives hope to others.

The Amy Ferguson Institute presents 'Tapas and Tunes', its annual spring fundraiser. This year entertainment for the evening will be provided by three of Nelson's finest female vocalists, ALLISON GIRVAN, LAURA LANDSBERG and BESSIE WAPP, backed up by Paul Landsberg (Guitar), Craig Korth (Banjo), Don Macdonald (Sax), Rob Johnson (Bass), and Christoph Martens (Accordian). Tickets are $35.00/person ($20 tax deductible), and include a complimentary drink, a 3 course light feast of appetizers, gourmet tapas, and a selection of desserts. Permaculture Design Course

This is the basic permaculture design course.
This 13 day intensive course combines theory with practical hands-on practical learning.
Topics includes: permaculture design techniques & principles, site analysis, soil fertility, organic gardening techniques, herbs & medicinal plants, fruit & nut trees, edible forest garden, efficient water uses, ecological buildings, urban permaculture, etc.
This course is offered in cooperation with Selkirk College in Nelson.
