NELSON ARTWALK OPENING NIGHT
FRIDAY, AUGUST 7th  6:00 – 9:00 PM!

Come celebrate a second night of ARTWALK opening receptions on Friday, August 7th from 6:00 – 9:00 PM throughout 13 venues in downtown Nelson.  This free, family-friendly event features the work of local artists, roving musicians, and delicious refreshments.

Nelson ARTWALK is a fabulous opportunity for artists and art lovers to meet in a friendly, festive setting.  The July opening boasted the largest turnout yet, and this month’s opening is generating a lot of excitement.

For emerging artists, ArtWalk is an opportunity to gain valuable feedback and recognition, as well as the motivation to create more art, and a stronger identity as an artist.  Promoting patrons of the arts is another important element of ArtWalk.  Purchasing a piece of original, local art is a great way to support art in our community, and is often something that will be cherished forever.  Being exposed to an abundance of local art also fosters the development of creativity in others.

Brochures, which include a walking map will be available throughout town, including the Visitor Centre, and all gallery locations; Baker Street Menswear, Bigby Place, the Community First Health Co-op. the Craft Connection, Ellison’s Market Café, Hemp & Company, Kolmel Silver and Gold, Kootenay Bakery, Kutenai Clothing Company,  Maison, the Nelson Municipal Library, Touchstones, and the Whitehouse Backpacker Lodge. The brochure has been updated  this year so that the walking map includes venues that regularly feature art, in addition to official ArtWalk galleries.

Come out and join the fun on Friday, August 7th   – we look forward to seeing you on the street!
