At best, it will re-awaken people to the importance of empathy, compassion and imagination. Ideals like ‘choosing to live simply so other people can simply live’ will become more popular. Exploitative attitudes and selfish activity for the mere sake of ‘unnecessary’ personal profit will become increasingly unpopular. Neptune in Pisces will significantly stimulate imaginations and even mystical states of awareness in mass proportions. Telepathy and other forms of psychic perception will increase measurably. Religious dogma and separative belief systems will yield to a genuine spirituality where unity becomes the new mantra. This coincides quite nicely with the positive predictions linked to 2012. Just hours after the New Moon in Aquarius, Mars turned retrograde in Virgo. Mars entered Virgo back in mid November and due to it turning retrograde it will remain there until early July. Of itself, Mars in Astrology is symbolic action and self-expression. The 1^st planet outside the orbit of our own planet and the ruler of Aries (the 1^st sign of the Zodiac), Mars symbolizes action upon the purpose of the Sun, the thinking and perceptions of Mercury, the desires and wants of Venus, the emotional feelings and needs of the Moon and the practical needs and desires of life on Earth. Mars can most basically be interpreted as one’s style and mode of self-expression.

Mars retrograde in Virgo often stirs conflicts in personal relationships. The projection of expectations and high ideals leading to disappointments in others are some of the main issues. This can make people hard on others and then on them selves by reaction. At best, Mars retrograde can be interpreted as having a more spiritual and less material ambition. In other words, achieving one’s material goals and satisfying desires as is generally the case when Mars is Direct is reversed or the urge and passion is diverted. Until spiritual goals are met, outer worldly ambitions will be set aside.

Happy New Year Water Dragon! Technically, it is the exact moment of the New Moon in Aquarius every year which parallels with the countdown just prior to midnight where December 31^st yields to January 1^st. There is a little less drama in the New Moon focus as it is the dark moon phase so the overall energy levels are lowered. Yet, there are other kinds of magic at play. The simple fact that the 2^nd New Moon after Winter Solstice is given such a high honor as to begin Chinese New Year is illustrative of the respect given to natural cycles. Given the environmental crisis on our planet precipitated by the advances of science and industrialization, it seems like a good idea that we re-assert our priorities whereby we recognize that nature makes a much better friend than enemy. Assuming that the cycles of nature are beneath our technological will and might is an attitude and belief that threatens us all. The Dragon is said to tempt the fates. As 2012 gains momentum and the Year of the Dragon fast approaches this offers a window of time to reflect. 2012 has gained a lot of attention the past several years. Of course, particular emphasis has been on Winter Solstice 2012. Many predictions ranging from the catastrophic to the fantastic have been presented by people around the world. That 12/21/2012 represents the symbolic beginning of a new Precessional Cycle is according to Classical Mayan Cosmology. That the Mayans today assert their oral records reach all the way back 26, 0000 years to the previous such alpha and omega point is interesting. Some have asserted that each new cycle accompanies major cataclysmic activity. Yet, whether this remains an actual periodic cycle suggestive of new episodes of cataclysm is the question running through people’s minds. Assuming that dire events will occur exactly on Winter Solstice verses that being a symbolic date seems, well… convenient. The Year of the Dragon itself only comes around every 12 years, with the last one being in 2000 and is said to bring in a new balance. 2012 should prove interesting, at least.

Aries (Mar 21 – Apr 20)

Everyone is feeling pressures demanding commitment and resolve, not least of all you. The need for new strategies is featured. Rebellious reactions certainly won’t help you now. The following list of planetary activity will occur in 2012 and below is the summary themes for each sign. Mars will remain in Virgo until July 3 due to turning retrograde on January 23^rd. Jupiter begins the year at 0 Taurus then enters Gemini on June 11^th. Saturn in Libra since October 2009 will enter Scorpio in October 2012. Chiron at 2 degrees Pisces now will reach 10 by mid June and end the year at about 6. Uranus at 1 degrees Aries will reach 8 by mid July and finish the year at 4. Neptune begins the year at the last degree of Aquarius, enters its own sign of Pisces on February 3^rd will reach 3 degrees by mid June and end the year at 1 Pisces. Pluto begins the year at 7 Capricorn achieves 10 by about mid April and completes the year at 9. The Lunar Nodes are currently in Sagittarius (North) and Gemini and will end their 18 month cycle to begin a new one in early September with the North Node in Scorpio and the South in Taurus. The most potent planetary aspect of the year will be between Uranus in Aries Square Pluto in Capricorn and this dynamic aspect pattern will be active for 3 years!
