Curious to learn more about how our taxes fund the military? Eager to find constructive ways to work for peace? The evening will feature hot soup and plenty of food for thought. The event will provide an introduction to war tax resistance and the important work of Conscience Canada.

The event will begin with a simple meal catered by Soups in Season. Following this MP Atamanenko will speak briefly about Bill C-363. Next up will be two documentaries: the British film “Contempt of Conscience” and Conscience Canada’s own short film “Work for Peace, Stop Paying for War”. The evening will wrap up with an opportunity for questions and discussion. The event is by donation. All are warmly invited to attend!

Looking For Backcountry Ski Partners

Hi there!

My name is Emily, and my partner Phil and I have recently taken up back country skiing. Both of us are confident skiers, and Phil has completed his AST 1.

We are looking for people who know Kootenay backcountry and would be willing to take us skiing with them so we can get to know the terrain. We are especially interested in exploring the Bonnington range. We have a 4wd vehicle, so we can provide transport if necessary. The two of us live in Blewett, just outside Nelson.

The greater Community is invited to come out and support a local Family who lost their home and everything in it due to a house fire last Thursday, Jan. 29th ….
Please bring your refundable bottles to the Nelson Leafs bottle depot (next to Cottonwood Market) on Sat. Feb. 4th from 10 am – 4 pm & help us support this beautiful Family in their efforts to start over.
