Nelson’s Old-time Dance and Social Club presents a Midwinter Hoedown at 7 PM on Thursday, February 9 at the Scout Hall, 310 Cedar St.

The evening features the lively music of Kootenay Kontraband: Craig Korth (banjo and guitar), Genie Sittig (fiddle), Catherine McGrath (mandolin), and David Feldman (upright bass).

David Feldman will also be calling the dances, a mix of straightforward contras, easy to learn circle dances, and the occasional Virginia Reel.

Bring your whole family (kids to grandma), indoor shoes, and water to drink. Snacks are provided.

Admission is $8 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under.

The Royal presents folk rockers, Redgy Blackout! These two talented young men are energetic, fun and interactive onstage. They'll have you dancing and singing along immediately. Daniel Sky will open the show. Daniel is a uniquely energetic performer with a honey rasped voice and an electrifying pulse on stage. A great line-up...no doubt to be a fantastic night of music...and dancing of course.

The Royal presents an evening heavy on the reggae with a dash of rock and roots. Starting things off will be Nelson's DJ Papa Roots. Next we have the up and coming rock, reggae, ska sounds of Rebel Emergency. Rebel Emergency is an innovative new band from Toronto whose sound is an eclectic mix of Rock, Reggae and Ska that is undeniable in both its energy and originality. Lastly, headlining the evening, is an incredible roots reggae act, The Green! The Green blends roots reggae with traditional Hawaiian vibes. This is going to be a huge night!
