International Symposium on Expressive Arts Therapy
May 6th – 8th 2010
Workshops on Body, voice & gesture in art making & images
with 2 international facilitators

“Come, relax, learn, and grow”

Intangible Body Gestures and their Translation
into Tangible Shape and Form with Sibylle Cseri

This workshop offers an exploration of the relationship between the art making process and the body as a holder of the inner emotional world, the body as a vehicle towards mark making, the body as an echo between the senses and the creative act and the body as a manifestation into tangible artistic form.
In this sense, together we will investigate the encounters of the body´s tangible trace and the “invisible” senses in order to gain a deeper understanding on the patient’s inner process’.

The Body, the Voice and the Image with Markus Alexander

How does one artistic modality help to shape and inform discoveries in another modality? How do changes in what and how we see, effect how we create sound?
The body has the ability to move energy for voice-work, dance and image-making. This workshop will deepen the participant’s capacity to develop enough skill to shift to the place where inspiration happens. These two basic ingredients of the creative process, inspiration and skill will be explored in a safe and delicate environment.
Shifts in awareness have the potential to create shifts in our everyday lives.
Participants will be given support and instruction for sounding paintings and moving sound. This will be followed by improvisation in a Dance/Theatre/Choir structure.
