In 2001, Chris Van Dyk and Lorri McCready came to Nelson from Strathmore, Alberta for a change of view. In October of that year, they opened their new business – THOR’S PIZZA. Since that day they have seen their business grow steadily and have served our community well.
THOR’S GOURMET PIZZARIA is not your “Average Pizzeria”. For starters Chris is a Certified Chef de Cuisine (highest chef ranking attainable in Canada). Secondly, almost all of their ingredients from mushrooms and green peppers to chicken and bacon are purchased fresh and chopped, diced and cooked on the premises. THOR’S also uses olive oil in their sauce and crust (many use flavourless canola oil) which makes for both a healthier and tastier product. Their Italian-style bread crust is yeast-leavened (no chemicals here!) and made with a blend of whole wheat and unbleached white flour. THOR’S original pizza sauce is also made from scratch using fresh-pack tomatoes resulting in a delicious, fresh sauce that has lower sodium than canned sauces. The result is tantalizing pizza the whole family will love, delivered right to your door if you like. Have a whole pizza, come in for a slice or try a fresh-made calzone and enjoy the newly expanded seating area. Have one of their delicious traditional pizzas or try something a little more daring like the chicken Alfredo or Roasted Eggplant pizza.
THOR’S has also added a line of gourmet toasted subs and paninis (traditional Italian grilled sandwiches) to their menu. Made with delicious deli-meats like proscuitto and genoa salami, real cheeses like bocconcini and fontina, and fresh veggies (even roasted eggplant and roasted red peppers!), these sandwiches are second to none. Add this to their pasta, salads, chicken wings and more and there’s something for everyone at THOR’S!
